Prysmian Group Fiber Room Associate in Claremont, North Carolina

Position: Fiber Room Associate

Reports To: Logistics Manager

Position Description:

  • Put away fiber (purchased):

  • Remove fiber spools from pin-carts and/or boxes

  • Remove inside end and plastic ring

  • Place spool into fiber storage bins

  • Using barcode scanner and/or manual entry, perform SAP transactions as fiber is stored

  • Put away fiber (returns from shop floor):

  • Remove fiber spools from pin-carts

  • Check label (correct color ID and does length seem reasonable)

  • Wrap fiber spool with stretch wrap

  • Place spool into fiber storage bins

  • Using barcode scanner and/or manual entry, perform SAP transactions as fiber is stored

  • Review fiber spools on racks to be returned to fiber plant and check any that do not appear to be at or below the scrap length.

  • Other miscellaneous duties include but are not limited to:

  • Create production orders, remake orders

  • Pull fiber for engineering trials

  • Perform housekeeping duties as directed

  • Perform cycle counts/inventories as directed

  • SAP transactions to check fiber ID in bins

  • Assign FGI to customer order

  • Assign tube, core, etch from SFG to production order

  • Ensure all product meets requirements as defined by the Plant’s Quality Management Systems

  • Comply with all applicable safety procedures and ISO14001 EMS guidelines

  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor or a member of management

Education:

Required: High Scholl Diploma or GED

Preferred: N/A

Fiber Room Associate = Fiber Selection

Experience

Required:

  • Demonstrated familiarity with PCs and with SAP

  • Color vision and vision corrected to 20/30 or better

  • Able to stand/work on feet for > 50% of work time during the shift

  • Able to stoop/stretch while holding fiber spool weighing up to 10 pounds to place fiber spool into bins:

  • located approximately 2 inches above floor level

  • located approximately 6 feet above floor level

  • Able to travel up and down narrow aisle ( approximately 27 inches wide) while putting away or removing fiber spools inside the fiber room

  • Able to push a fully loaded pin-rack or cart of fiber to buffer lines ( approximately 40 pounds of force required to move rack)

  • Able to lift and carry a fully loaded box of fiber (up to 35 pounds) a distance of 30 feet

Preferred:

  • Experience in Fiber Optic Buffering or Ribboning

  • Experience in Fiber Selection

  • SAP expertise

  • Demonstrated ability to work carefully with high valued material

  • Demonstrated interest in continuous improvement, problem solving

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision
