Prysmian Group Production Worker in Lincoln, Rhode Island

ASSOCIATE ACCOUNTABILITY STATEMENT

FUNDAMENTAL RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

Conform to plant safety standards, practices and policies, and plant rules.

Embrace General Cables shared values and behaviors and live the values in day to day interactions.

Conform to and maintain operational rates and standards.

Report any non-conformances using established tools and systems.

Conform to and maintain quality control standards, procedures and systems.

Ensure tools and equipment are available, maintained and in good working condition.

Keep work area clean and complete 5S assignments.

Complete required training and proactively maintain certifications.

Participate in continuous improvement activities and programs.

Train other associates as directed.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

Utilize a CV line with one extruder, apply rubber insulation compound over copper conductors and shields by method of extrusion as required by written specifications.

Monitor extruder control panels and make required adjustments in accordance with written machine and processing parameters and verbal instructions from the supervisor and/or process engineer.

During changeover, make setup by manually removing, cleaning and installing extruder heads.

During change over and shutdowns, remove and clean extruder heads and bump screws from extruders using a bumper bar.

During start-ups, change over and shutdowns, join conductors of different sizes using copper tube splices.

Center compounds around copper conductor by manually turning adjusting bolts located on the extruder heads. Check centering using prescribed QC procedures.

Monitor water levels, seals, etc. along the length of the extruder line.

Clean and check filters and compounding hoppers.

Communicate with Supervisor and/or maintenance concerning the operation of the extruder line.

Insure that assigned work areas are clean and in good state of housekeeping at all times.

Work rapidly for short periods of time while making set-up and change-over during periods of restricted operations due to operations involving returning a line to full production with minimal downtime.

Avoid the solidification of compounds in extruders and extruder heads during change-over and shutdown operations.

Read, understand and carry out oral and written instructions.

Read work orders, scrap tickets, job lot tickets, graphs, logs, schedules, raw material labels and general product labels, etc.

Observe and read instruments, gages and dials to determine operating conditions.

Read and interpret specifications and production orders.

Prepare detailed reports and records listing production data, keeping inventory records and operating logs.

Inspect, examine and observe for product and equipment defects.

Use measuring devices such as gages, micrometers, rulers, calibrated steel tapes and calipers.

Operate hoists, cranes, power and non-power hand tools.
